COVID-19 Relief Grants
Federal and state authorities have passed a series of relief bills in response to the extraordinary circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic. These relief bills have included a portion of funds specifically allocated to assist students with significant financial need. UNCG has created this page to provide information about current relief grant funds and reference material for past programs.
As part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021(ARP) UNCG is currently able to award grants to students. Some students will be awarded automatically. Current students experiencing significant financial difficulty may also apply for an emergency grant of up to $1000 through the online application linked below.

UNCG will also continue to distribute funds from our existing SAFE initiative (Student Assistance Fund for Emergencies.) Established by the UNCG class of 1967, this fund provides immediate relief for students facing unexpected financial adversity. This fund is supported through the generosity of UNCG donors and is administered through the UNCG Division of Student Affairs. Students can apply for SAFE funds here [https://sa.uncg.edu/safefund]. Keep in mind that SAFE funding is limited. Each application will be evaluated based on documented extenuating circumstances and financial hardship, and all applications for assistance cannot be awarded.
